Dental Implants

What are Dental Implants?

Dental Implants are modern dentistry’s long-lasting and natural-looking substitute for missing teeth or support dentures. The implants fuse directly to your jaw bone. As a result, they become one with your living bone structure and replace the root portion of your lost tooth. So, the implants help to maintain your jawbone. Otherwise, it would begin to disintegrate once your tooth is removed.

The dentist places them by administering local anaesthesia. After about 3 months, your body creates bone cells around the implant, integrating it into the jaw bone. This process is called osseointegration.

Finally, the dentist adds and bonds the prosthetic work (crown, bridge or denture).

In our dental practice, we collaborate with the best companies worldwide, providing you with the best quality dental implants!

Placing procedure

For most patients, the placement of dental implants involves two surgical phases.
First, the dentist places the implant into the bone.

During the first 3-4 months after surgery, the dental implants are covered by the gums. Then they are gradually integrated into the jaw bone.

Following the integration, the second surgical phase follows. This phase is called the “revealing” of the implants.
While under local anaesthesia, the implants are revealed from underneath the gums. The dentist places a small screw onto them which protrudes from the gum surface about 1 – 2 mm.

After two to three weeks, the healing screw gives its place, temporarily, to the imprint axis. Then, the dentist takes the imprint with the positions of the implants to the lab to construct the final restoration.

The full procedure, from the first visit up until the final placement of the work, lasts 4-5 months. However, most patients do not experience any change in their daily routine during this period.
